Knots Landing is an American prime time television drama that aired on CBS<\/a> from December 27, 1979, to May 13, 1993. A spin-off of Dallas, it was set in a fictitious coastal suburb of Los Angeles. It initially centered on the lives of four married couples living on a cul-de-sac \u2014 Gary and Valene Ewing, relatives to the popular Ewing clan of Dallas; Sid and Karen Fairgate (Michele Lee), their all-American neighbors; Richard and Laura Avery; Kenny and Ginger Ward, a newlywed couple; and divorcee Abby Cunningham, Sid’s scheming sister.<\/p>\r\n

Knots Landing was first pitched to CBS, but CBS wanted something more \u201csaga-like.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>So David Jacobs then created Dallas.\u00a0 <\/span>It was a hit. Then David re-pitched Knots Landing, spinning off the two characters of Gary and Valene Ewing, who moved from Dallas to a cul-de-sac in California.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

By the time of its conclusion Knots Landing was the longest running prime-time drama in US television history.<\/p>\r\n

Every season of “Knots Landing<\/a>” is now available to stream or purchase digitally on such services as Amazon (Prime Video)<\/a>, AppleTV<\/a>, YouTube<\/a>, Fandango at Home<\/a>, and more.
